Why Choose General English?

At SBC Oxford, our General English course has been designed specifically for 8 to 12-year-old young learners. The syllabus combines carefully selected coursebooks with bespoke Time to Shine materials, developed by our creative and experienced academic team. Students are taught in a multinational environment and our communicative method, with its emphasis on speaking and interacting, builds each student’s confidence to use English in real-world situations.

What You’ll Learn

Our course focuses on developing English language skills and improving our students’ ability to use English in everyday situations. In our fun and engaging lessons, students develop their knowledge and understanding of vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading and writing. This knowledge is then activated in interactive tasks, collaborative activities and school projects.

How You’ll Learn: Time To Shine

Each week, every student will participate in a series of dynamic tasks and team projects during our Time to Shine lessons. During these lessons they will be challenged and motivated to use English in an imaginative and productive way. Previous Time to Shine challenges include the construction of a working marble run and the building of balloon-powered cars.
